About
For an excellent background of Herbert Lynn Womack, his publishing activities, and legal battles over postal censorship, see Buying Gay: How Physique Entrepreneurs Sparked a Movement by David K. Johnson (Columbia University Press, 2019).
Womack’s publishing company was the Guild Press, but many of the magazines published were credited to other imprints, usually ones that aligned to a publication’s name. The various Guild Press imprints generally listed PO boxes at Benjamin Franklin Station in Washington, D.C., as their mailing address.
